He brought in young engineer Jacques David to develop the necessary machinery for improving watchmaking processes, leading to continuous expansion of production until the 1930s. By 1911, the Longines factory employed over 1,100 workers and shipped its products worldwide. Longines' technological research efforts were rewarded in various forms, winning over 10 Grand Prix awards by the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, establishing the brand as the most decorated in the industry. In 1989, Francillon trademarked the name Longines along with the winged hourglass logo. Longines, registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), remains one of the oldest brands to use the same registered trademark and logo from its inception. Evolving manufacturing techniques at the factory allowed Longines to forge special relationships with the sports world, providing expertise across various fields, including the iconic sports of the 20th century.
